Uncle Itzhak-Isaac was born in 1901, in Ankara, Turkey, to Ester and Aaron Arav. He was their firstborn son. He had two brothers (Avraham and Yehuda) and three sisters (Sara, Lea and Fanny).
In 1923, he left Turkey and immigrated to Havana, Cuba.

In 1927, he married Rebecca Ohev. They had four daughters: Sara, Esther, Alegre and Fanny.
Uncle Isaac made a living in Havana by selling various items door to door.
In 1966, when Fidel Castro came to power, he and Aunt Rebecca left Cuba and immigrated to New York, USA. They settled in Brooklyn.

He and Aunt Rebecca visited Israel in 1974. During this visit, Uncle Isaac met his brothers and sisters after many years of separation.
